[FEATURED] Ikeda Sensei’s Achievements Part 4: Establishing the Foundation of Education and Culture in the World

Soka Gakkai was founded on 18 November 1930, as “Value-Creating Education Society” by the Japanese educators, Makiguchi Sensei and Toda Sensei. It was both Makiguchi and Toda Sensei’s wish to establish a value creating educational institution one day. It was Ikeda sensei who realised this compassionate vow of Makiguchi and Toda Sensei.

[FEATURED] Ikeda Sensei’s Achievement Part 3 : Taking Action Towards Peace and Humanism

“Let’s do it now! Let’s create a whirlwind of dialogue throughout to pave the way to lasting peace. We must unite the world with the philosophy of Buddhist humanism.”
Since he was inaugurated as Soka Gakkai 3rd President, Ikeda Sensei had traveled the world, holding many dialogues with world renowned leaders, scholars and cultural figures. He built the “golden bridge of peace” in Asia and the world as a private citizen and authored 40 annual peace proposals.

“I want to eliminate misery from the Earth”.

[FEATURED] Ikeda Sensei’s Achievements Part 2 : Expanding the Bodhisattvas of the Earth to 192 countries and territories

For more than half a century, Ikeda Sensei thoroughly encouraged every person he met. “If there was even one comrade, I wanted to reach out and encourage them, even if they were far away or at the grass roots. Just as a dew is born from a single spring, a great river of world peace can be created from that one person.”

[FEATURED] Ikeda Sensei’s Achievements Part 1 : A Youth dedicated to protecting Toda Sensei’s wish to selflessly propagate the law

The great march toward “widespread propagation of the law” that leads to “world peace” began with a solemn encounter between mentor and disciple. On August 14, 1947, Ikeda Sensei, who was then 19 years old, attended a discussion meeting in Ota Ward, Tokyo.
