President Ikeda recalls how he had combed every corner of Osaka and fought with the members to make the impossible possible during the 1956 Osaka Campaign.
During the Osaka Campaign of 1956, the leadership of which Mr Toda had entrusted to me, I visited every corner of Osaka, meeting and talking with as many people as I could and igniting the flames of courage in their hearts.
I worked on the very front lines. I conducted ushitora gongyo in the middle of the night, praying for the victory and the safety of our members. I joined them in humble meals of rice and curry. I fought in complete unity with my beloved fellow members in Kansai from beginning to end.
Our struggle for kosen-rufu is to meet and talk with others. That is also how we accomplished that landmark victory in Kansai, which stunned all of Japan and caused the press to exclaim that we had achieved the impossible.
