President Ikeda once wrote of the high school division members:​

​How can you light the flame of passion in the hearts of others if that flame isn’t burning in your own?… How can you expect people to strive alongside you if you are not striving hard yourself?… The flame of our own wholehearted fighting spirit is what ignites in others’ hearts the flame of the vow to dedicate one’s life to kosen-rufu.”
