Ikeda Sensei composed the following poems to commemorate November 18, 2023, the 93rd anniversary of the Soka Gakkai’s founding and the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Hall of the Great Vow for Kosen-rufu. He prepared them before his passing on November 15. The poems appeared in the November 18, 2023, issue of the Soka Gakkai daily newspaper, Seikyo Shimbun.

The Soka Gakkai Funeral Service for its third president, Daisaku Ikeda, who passed away on the 15 November, was held at 1.30 pm today, 23 November 2023, at the Tokyo Toda Memorial Auditorium in Sugamo. A ceremony was solemnly conducted and live streamed to more than 1000 Soka Centres in 47 prefectures.

In the following photos, Soka Gakkai members can be seen leaving the Kaikan in Kansai after Ikeda Sensei’s funeral service has ended. Soka Gakkai staff can be seen ushering members to ensure a smooth exit from the premises.  

Although members processed differently after such a service, It must be a feeling of a range of emotions—sadness, relief, or even peacefulness.
It is for sure members leave the service venue with a sense of gratitude and to repay Sensei’s to continue to realise many great vows!
The future lies in the disciples with the shared vow of the mentor.
