Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a condolence message to Prime Minister Kishida regarding the passing of Mr. Daisaku Ikeda, Honorary President of the Soka Gakkai, who passed away on the 15th of this month.

According to the government’s announcement, in the condolence message received by Prime Minister Kishida today (25 Nov), President Xi mentioned Mr. Ikeda’s contributions to the development of Sino-Japanese relations. He stated, “I wish to work with Prime Minister Kishida to promote the correct development of Sino-Japanese relations in a healthy and stable manner.”

On 23 November 2023, President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping sent a condolence message via telegram to Japan Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida for the passing of Daisaku Ikeda, Honorary President of Soka Gakkai.

In his condolence message, President Xi expressed that he can’t contain his deep emotion upon receiving the news of the Honorary President’s passing. He also acknowledged that Ikeda Sensei is a well-known social activist in Japan and addressed him as “a dear old friend of the Chinese People. He states that Ikeda Sensei has been working tirelessly to advance the cause for the normalisation of Sino-Japan relations and made important contributions to promote bilateral exchange in each field.”

A telegram of condolence was also delivered from Foreign Minister Wang Yi through the Chinese Embassy in Japan on the 25 November, 2023.
