Shin’ichi headed for the Nihon University Auditorium in Ryogoku, Tokyo, to attend the Kanto Young Men’s Division General Meeting. In the car on the way, he felt a chill. He had a fever—no doubt the beginnings of a cold. “I can’t let this defeat me,” he thought. “I must keep going for the sake of fresh advancement.” Making a fresh advance requires tremendous power and energy. In order to enable the Soka Gakkai to soar boundlessly into the second chapter of kosen-rufu, Shin’ichi was pouring every ounce of his being into carrying out a full-fledged struggle.
