“On the morning of July 17, two weeks after my arrest and the day of my release, members of the Brass Band assembled on the banks of Dojima River and began playing rousing Soka Gakkai songs, which I was able to hear from my cell in the Osaka Detention Center. I was released shortly after noon. The tears that sparkled on the faces of the hundreds of members who were waiting to greet me shine in my heart to this day as an unforgettable and treasured memory of my beloved Kansai. I went to meet Mr. Toda, who had travelled to Osaka, and together we attended the Osaka Rally at the Central Civic Hall in Nakanoshima that evening.”
