“One day after his resignation from Soka Gakkai’s presidency, Mr Ikeda appeared suddenly at the end of a meeting. The joyful participants had scarcely applauded before he raised a finger to his mouth. He began to play the piano without a words. The melodies reached deep down into everyone’s heart in the room. The rendition ended with a loud  applause. Again, he raised a finger to his mouth. Though he did not say a word, he looked at the members with warmth and dignity. As he left, they were relieved to see that he was the same as always. Alone and unaided, he never ceased his battle. “
