For what purpose do we live our lives? Mission is synonymous with an awareness of the purpose of our lives. The Japanese word for “mission” (shimei) is made up two characters meaning “to use one’s life.” What is the purpose for which we use our lives? From the moment we deeply awaken to our mission of working for a supremely noble purpose, our life state expands enormously. When we decide to employ our lives for the lofty shared ideals of Soka mentors and disciples, we become unstoppable.​

Eliminating misery from our world—that was the cherished wish of my mentor, Josei Toda, and it is the mission of all Soka mentors and disciples dedicated to the task of “establishing the correct teaching for the peace of the land.”​
