To encourage members, he even visited areas where tiny houses were crammed along narrow alleyways filled with the smell of fish being grilled. He also went to areas where farm fields stretched out to the horizon.​ ​

Shin’ichi initiated his activities by travelling extensively throughout Osaka to encourage the members. He usually travelled on a bicycle borrowed from a local member. Sometimes he’d get a flat tire and end up walking the bicycle through the dark night streets.​

Most of the members greeted him with joy, appreciative that he had made the effort to visit. Some gave him a cool reception. But Shin’ichi greeted them all with a warm smile, engaged them in dialogue and encouraged them.
