Once when we were alone, Mr Toda said to me: “Daisaku, if you were to become president of the Soka Gakkai, how many countries do you think you could spread the Daishonin’s Buddhism to?”

I replied: “I will spread the Daishonin’s Buddhism throughout the entire globe without fail!”

“How many countries, exactly?” he asked.

“More than 100,” I said.

Tears rose in his eyes, knowing that I would achieve whatever I said I would.
