That gave her immense encouragement.<\/p>\n<p>At that in-class session, Imai was moved to tears. During the in-class sessions, she paid very close attention to every word her instructors wrote on the blackboard and did her best to follow the lessons in spite of being unable to hear. Her fellow students also helped her, showing her their notes.<\/p>\n<p>Imai wanted to somehow respond to Shin\u2019ichi\u2019s encouragement, and she decided that the best way to do that was to graduate from the correspondence program within four years and announce her victory to President Yamamoto. She pledged deep in her heart to graduate, and whenever her studies caused her physical suffering or tested her limits, she recalled Shin\u2019ichi on that day and was able to keep going.
