Ikeda Sensei entrusts the future only to the youth. There will be no future for our movement unless we can foster people who will staunchly uphold and carry on the Gakkai spirit of mentor and disciple and strive all-out to\u00a0<\/span>realise<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>kosen-rufu<\/span>.<\/span>\u200b<\/h4>\n

On a different level, a few years after my mentor\u00a0<\/span>Mr<\/span>\u00a0Toda tried to revive our movement for\u00a0<\/span>kosen-rufu<\/span>\u00a0after World War II, his businesses failed and he was thrust into financial dire straits. Who stood by him at that critical juncture? Cowardly disciples abandoned him, one after another. Many older Gakkai leaders had become calculating and self-serving. After he became the Gakkai\u2019s second president (in 1951),\u00a0<\/span>Mr<\/span>\u00a0Toda clearly stated that he could only trust the youth and would pass the presidency on to one of them, even though there were many senior leaders in the\u00a0<\/span>organisation<\/span>\u00a0at the time.\u00a0<\/span>\u200b\u200b<\/p>\n

The same holds true today. I can only entrust the future to the youth. There will be no future for our movement unless we can foster people who will staunchly uphold and carry on the Gakkai spirit of mentor and disciple and strive all-out to\u00a0<\/span>realise<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>kosen-rufu<\/span>.
