Second\u00a0<\/span>Soka<\/span>\u00a0Gakkai president Josei Toda often said: \u201cWhy did I become the president of the\u00a0<\/span>Soka<\/span>\u00a0Gakkai? The reason is that I lost my wife. I lost my beloved daughter. And I have tasted life\u2019s bitter hardships to the hilt. That is why I became the president.\u201d<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n

Because he worked endlessly and had undergone every kind of ordeal, he was qualified to be president \u2014 this was\u00a0<\/span>Mr<\/span>\u00a0Toda\u2019s philosophy.<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n

Experiencing various hardships enables us to deepen our faith<\/span>\u2026<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n

I would like to share with you something that former\u00a0<\/span>Soka<\/span>\u00a0Gakkai general director Takashi Koizumi once said. I do so reluctantly because his comments concern me personally. Nevertheless, I will share them with you because of the great trust and expectations I have for you.<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n
