It is the way of a disciple to repay the boundless debt owed to one\u2019s mentor. For 62 years, I have sincerely dedicated myself to correctly following the path of a disciple. I do not have the slightest regret…<\/span>\u200b\u200b<\/h4>\n

Commenting on this reference to persecution by the authorities in \u201cLetter from\u00a0<\/span>Sado<\/span>,\u201d\u00a0<\/span>Mr<\/span>\u00a0Toda said: \u201cI have experienced persecution by the authorities once and, if I have the good fortune, I\u2019d like to encounter such persecution again<\/span>\u2026<\/span>\u00a0I am fully prepared for something like that. I couldn\u2019t be the leader of our movement if I wasn\u2019t.\u201d<\/span>\u200b\u200b<\/p>\n

When I was arrested and jailed on trumped-up charges at the time of the Osaka Incident (in 1957),\u00a0<\/span>Mr<\/span>\u00a0Toda, though extremely frail with ill health, personally went to the Osaka District Prosecutor\u2019s office to lodge a protest with the chief public prosecutor. \u201cTell the prosecutor that if his aim is to crush the\u00a0<\/span>Soka<\/span>\u00a0Gakkai, he should arrest me!\u201d he declared. And on another occasion, he demanded to know: \u201cHow long do you intend to keep my innocent disciple locked up?!\u201d<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n

\u200bHe was a truly wonderful mentor. It is the way of a disciple to repay the boundless debt owed to one\u2019s mentor. For 62 years, I have sincerely dedicated myself to correctly following the path of a disciple. I do not have the slightest regret.<\/span><\/p>\n
