It is now up to our successors in the youth division to solidly carry on this all important\u00a0<\/span>Soka<\/span>\u00a0spirit of mentor and disciple and ensure that it is passed on into the eternal future.<\/span>\u200b<\/h4>\n

In the spring of 1980, upon completing my fifth visit to China, I flew directly from Shanghai to Nagasaki to embark on a guidance tour of Kyushu \u2014 my first regional guidance tour in Japan since having been forced to step down as\u00a0<\/span>Soka<\/span>\u00a0Gakkai president the previous year.\u00a0 After Nagasaki, I travelled to Fukuoka. There, I called out to my beloved disciples in Kyushu, who were deeply committed to working with me for\u00a0<\/span>kosen-rufu<\/span>: \u201cWe must not let the banner of propagation fall! We must not let the flame of faith be extinguished!\u201d<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n

From Kyushu, an area that had suffered so much on account of problems caused by the priesthood, I launched a powerful counteroffensive, determined to keep alive the spirit of selfless dedication to\u00a0<\/span>kosen-rufu<\/span>\u00a0that is the hallmark of\u00a0<\/span>Nichiren<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Daishonin\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0Buddhism. With the awareness that this was the crucial moment to lay the foundation for the\u00a0<\/span>Soka<\/span>\u00a0Gakkai\u2019s eternal victory, the members of Kyushu stood up together with me. When disciples follow the mentor\u2019s lead in waging a struggle for\u00a0<\/span>kosen-rufu<\/span>\u00a0that accords with the time, their victory is assured. Our members in Kyushu have written just such a triumphant history.<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n
