My wish is that all my disciples make a great vow Since death is the same in [any] case, you should be willing to offer your life for the Lotus Sutra. Think of this offering as a drop of dew rejoining the ocean, or a speck of dust returning to the earth.”

In a letter addressed to his youthful follower Nanjo Tokimitsu during the life-and-death struggle of the Atsuhara Persecution,  the Daishonin writes:

“My wish is that all my disciples make a great vow. . . . Since death is the same in [any] case, you should be willing to offer your life for the Lotus Sutra. Think of this offering as a drop of dew rejoining the ocean, or a speck of dust returning to the earth.” (WND-1, 1003)

Everything depends on the youth, on the courage of young people dedicated to the great vow for kosen-rufu

To rid the world of misery was the cherished wish of Mr. Toda. As his loyal disciple, I inherited this aspiration, and now I would like to entrust it to all of you, the youthful Bodhisattvas of the Earth who are my successors. I do so in the hope that our triumphant people’s movement will live on forever—and that you will realise glorious achievements for kosen-rufu over the next 50 years and secure the everlasting victory of the mentors and disciples of Soka!
