When we treasure the Law more highly than our own life, we will have the courage to confidently speak out for what is right without fearing anyone

We should keenly reflect on the Daishonin’s profound commitment to the Law. When we treasure the Law more highly than our own life, we will have the courage to confidently speak out for what is right without fearing anyone. Herein lies the ultimate essence of faith.

Since meeting Mr Toda more than six decades ago (on August 14, 1947), I have championed the noble cause of the Soka Gakkai and proclaimed the ideals of our movement widely throughout the world, without retreating a single step. I have been able to summon the power to do so because of my unwavering commitment to realising the vision of my mentor, a great leader of kosen-rufu, which is a goal more precious to me than my own life.

In other words, I stood up and took action with the spirit to rigorously protect the Soka Gakkai — the organisation carrying out the Buddha’s intent and decree — and to foster its development around the globe in accord with Mr Toda’s fervent wish!
