In bijna veertig jaar boeddhistische beoefening heeft Ikeda Sensei zich ingezet voor een vreedzame wereld door middel van dialoog, cultuur en begrip. Op 15 november 2023 is hij op 95-jarige leeftijd overleden aan natuurlijke oorzaken. Ik zal mijn leven eren ter nagedachtenis aan de man die bijna mijn hele volwassen leven mijn mentor is geweest.

Discovering Ikeda Sensei's writings during my teenage years, when I was unsure about my future, was not a mere coincidence. Looking back at that young girl, uncertain about her path, I am profoundly grateful to my mother for introducing me to Sensei. Ikeda Sensei provided hope when I couldn't find it within myself. Ruhe in Frieden, Sensei! Bis wir uns wiedersehen! Er wurde Präsident des SGI-Buddhismus im Jahr 1960 und verstarb am 15. November 2023 im Alter von 95 Jahren. Er war der dritte und wahrscheinlich letzte Präsident. Er hat den Großteil seines Lebens damit verbracht, diese buddhistische Praxis zu verbreiten und für den Weltfrieden zu kämpfen. My mentor was told he wouldn’t live past 30. With hundreds of honorary degrees and citizenship from around the world when he wasn’t even able to finish school as a young man. Ikeda Sensei. A survivor of war, who saw the horrors of nuclear weapons, and then dedicated his life to the global peace movement, based on treasuring the life of each person. 先生は悲しんでくれる事を望んではいないのはわかっているのに。日を追うごとに先生の死を認めざるを得なくて毎日寂しい。父が亡くなった時と同じ状況だ。しっかり結果を出して喜んで頂ける自分にならなくては。

Mi mentor se ha ido. He practicado el budismo de Nichiren junto a el durante 41 anos. Fue un gran ejemplo de ser humano. Su consejo a los miembros de la SGI de 'leer grandes libros' me hizo saber que podía trabajar por la paz mundial con él. No dijo que leyéramos SUS libros. En ese momento supe que era un hombre a quien podía respetar. Trabajó desde los 19 años para promover la paz en todo el mundo. Lamento su partida, pero celebro su asombrosa vida. Descansa en paz, Ikeda Sensei.

I am sadden to hear of Sensei Daisaku Ikeda's death at age 95. A great Buddhust Leader. As a Buddhist for 17 years, I had benefitted a lot and transformed my life a lot with Ikeda Sensei's teaching and guidance. My deep gratitude to Ikeda Sensei. May he Rest in Peace.
