He often said to me: “Daisaku, I’m counting on you,” “Youth division, I’m counting on you.” To him, I was the youth division. I served and supported my mentor Mr Toda with everything I had. I can proudly and confidently declare to all Buddhas and bodhisattvas throughout the ten directions and three existences of past, present, and future: “The disciple, Daisaku Ikeda, supported his great teacher, Josei Toda, and served him with his entire being.” This is the Soka Gakkai spirit.

Whose turn is it now? It’s the turn of all of you. “It’s my turn!”—this is something for each person to decide in their own hearts. Those who can make such an inner resolve are truly admirable. It has nothing to do with one’s age or position in the organisation. This is the way of Buddhism.
